It only seemed a matter of time before the two powerhouses of new Bass music, Disclosure and Baauer, teamed up on something. Here’s the suitably timed remix of Disclosure’s new single You & Me by Mr ‘Harlem Shake’ Baauer, complete with rolling basslines, house breaks and a sprinkling of the sparse atmosphere of Trap.

Disclosure released their debut album ‘Settle’ this week to much critical acclaim.

Expect to hear this remix melting your face in all the clubs this weekend. We’ll certainly be playing it in our set at West London Bass Club this weekend.

Here’s the original if you haven’t heard it yet (where have you been??) – in our opinion, one of the best tracks on the new album:

BASS: Lady Leshurr – Upset

LadyLeshurrLyeah

UK MC Lady Leshurr drops a new jam with filthy basslines and spitting grime vocals. Reminiscent of early Dizzee and already tipped by The Streets’ Mike Skinner as ‘One To Watch’ in The Guardian. Instant love.

BASS: Rudimental ft. Ella Eyre Waiting All Night (BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge)

Rudimental_image

By now we’ve all heard the tune – something of a landmark for bass music – Rudimental is at No.1 with this stone cold jungly banger.

But check the above kickass live version from their recent BBC Radio 1 live session. Ella Eyre’s voice is massive live with so  much soul and power behind it. We’re slowly falling in love with her. Strangely, for someone who is currently at No.1 , she only has about 3,000 likes on her facebook page. Head over and give her a like – we’re expecting big things from her.

Here’s their rather good Live Lounge cover of Paramore’s ‘Now’, complete with samples of The Beat’s Mirror In The Bathroom and Bob Marley’s Sun Is Shining.

Rudimental’s debut album ‘Home’ is out next week 29th April and is available to pre-order here.

Also check their free download of Hell Could Freeze with vocals from shouty female rapper du jour Angel Haze:

BANDS: SOPHIE MADELEINE – RUN WITH US

We first came across ukelele songstress Sophie Madeleine with her beautiful Take Your Love With Me. We promptly bought ourselves a ukelele and learnt the chords. You know the score.

We double dare you not to press play on the above video and not instantly fall in love with Sophie’s perfectly toned voice. How has she not had more exposure? One would think that with the success of people like Dan Croll, Mumfords and Dan Howard, artists like Sophie would have had more of a look in?

Here’s ‘Run With Us’ from her side project Runaway Orchestra, which appears to have finally got a release in April through Mr Bongo here. We haven’t heard it yet, but if it has Sophie’s trademark mix of soaring melodies over masterfully simplistic chords, then it’s sure to be a winner.

For fans of: Jason Mraz, Cliff Edwards, Isreal Kamkawiwo’ole, Gotye, Dan Croll.

BANDS: DEAF CLUB – BREAK IT SLOW

Forget Slow Club, here’s Deaf Club.

We caught these guys down at Fake Club’s awesome clubnight in Holloway, North London last week and out of nowhere, they blew us away.

Absolutely loving the mellow guitar work lilting behind sweet uplifting female vocals. The band have just been featured by Jen Long on Radio 1 and have just returned from South by Southwest so it’s looking like things are going super well for them. Watch this space.

For fans of Peace, Foals, Cat Power, Feist, Radiohead, Lucy Rose.

Download their new EP for free here.

BASS: DEVolution – Good Love (Mistajam Live Session at Maida Vale)

Original here.

Alesso remix here.

Here’s a slamming version of Devolution’s recent single ‘Good Love’ live on BBC Radio 1’s Mistajam show at the famous Maida Vale stuidios in London.

Many talk about what Dubstep actually is these days. It has certainly come a long way from it’s roots in grimy South London raves. In some ways it has become the new pop beat du jour, just as drum and bass did for a time in the 2000s. Pop? Dubstep? Who cares… this track rules and this version is great. It’s certainly better than the insanely cheesy eurodance official video for the track.

Here’s a great video from the Red Bull Music Academy Hashtags project on the subject of dubstep/post-dubstep/whatever.
