BASS: Disclosure – You & Me feat Eliza Doolittle (Baauer Remix)

It only seemed a matter of time before the two powerhouses of new Bass music, Disclosure and Baauer, teamed up on something. Here’s the suitably timed remix of Disclosure’s new single You & Me by Mr ‘Harlem Shake’ Baauer, complete with rolling basslines, house breaks and a sprinkling of the sparse atmosphere of Trap.

Disclosure released their debut album ‘Settle’ this week to much critical acclaim.

Expect to hear this remix melting your face in all the clubs this weekend. We’ll certainly be playing it in our set at West London Bass Club this weekend.

Here’s the original if you haven’t heard it yet (where have you been??) – in our opinion, one of the best tracks on the new album:

chvrches 2

The very excellent CHVRCHES have dropped the third track to be taken from their super hyped upcoming debut album. Run is perhaps poppier and synth heavy than previous offerings The Mother We Share, Lies and Recover, but equally awesome. It’s been a while since we have heard a band have come out of nowhere with such strong singles, so it’s we’re going to go ahead and stamp CHVRCHES with the official BXB ‘Next Big Thing’ stamp.

Remind yourself of previous singles LiesThe Mother We Share and the mighty Recover.

And their remix of MS MR’s Hurricane:

BANDS: The Mispers – You Hold

Having only played 4 shows together as a full band, London-based The Mispers have aroused the Capital with their infectious brand of folk pop. Trembling male vocals soar over soothing strings and pounding drums, reminiscent of a youthful Foals or very early Mumford & Sons. A sure fire band to watch for 2013, check out the track ‘You Hold’ filmed at the beautiful Lightship 95, and try not to fall in love with these new kids on the block.

BASS: Rudimental ft. Ella Eyre Waiting All Night (BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge)

By now we’ve all heard the tune – something of a landmark for bass music – Rudimental is at No.1 with this stone cold jungly banger.

But check the above kickass live version from their recent BBC Radio 1 live session. Ella Eyre’s voice is massive live with so  much soul and power behind it. We’re slowly falling in love with her. Strangely, for someone who is currently at No.1 , she only has about 3,000 likes on her facebook page. Head over and give her a like – we’re expecting big things from her.

Here’s their rather good Live Lounge cover of Paramore’s ‘Now’, complete with samples of The Beat’s Mirror In The Bathroom and Bob Marley’s Sun Is Shining.

Rudimental’s debut album ‘Home’ is out next week 29th April and is available to pre-order here.

Also check their free download of Hell Could Freeze with vocals from shouty female rapper du jour Angel Haze:

BANDS: Haim – Forever on Later…with Jools Holland

We’ve been big (slightly obsessive) fans of Haim here at BXB since we received their first ‘Forever’ EP in the summer of 2011. Three EPs and a BBC Sound of 2012 win later, they’re set to release their debut album this summer, and about bloody time. Ahead of their sold out show at Heaven in London next week, the girls began what we imagine will be an endless week of promo on Jools Holland last night, performing their first single ‘Forever’. Undoubtabley one of the best live bands around at the moment, the girls’s stage presence and sheer love of what they’re doing make for another stellar performance. Complete with little shouts of ‘hey’ from the lead singer Danielle and some gurny bass playing from Esme, the band prove even more that they’re about to set every festival on fire this summer. Check out the Jools performance below, and try and bag one of the last tickets to their Heaven show HERE.

BANDS: NONONO – Like The Wind

We do love a slice of Swedish electro pop here at BandsxBass, and our latest obsession are Stockholm-based three piece NONONO. Signed to Best Fit Recordings, the threesome (two of which have already worked with Icona Pop and Beatrice Sli) are currently writing their debut abum. The lead track ‘Pumpin Blood’ has alot of whistling all over the place and makes you feel a little bit like you’re in ‘Where The Wild Things Are’, but our favourite of the band’s tracks so far is the shrill call and response number, ‘Like The Wind’. Stina Wäppling’s vocal lies somewhere between Lykke Li and Frankie Rose, mixing soft breathy notes with sharp feline cries against the pounding beat. Check out ‘Like The Wind’ below, and the official video for ‘Pumpin Blood’ where a couple argue over a bunny and the band dance in the sand wearing impressive knitwear.
