BANDS: CHVRCHES – Run

chvrches 2

The very excellent CHVRCHES have dropped the third track to be taken from their super hyped upcoming debut album. Run is perhaps poppier and synth heavy than previous offerings The Mother We Share, Lies and Recover, but equally awesome. It’s been a while since we have heard a band have come out of nowhere with such strong singles, so it’s we’re going to go ahead and stamp CHVRCHES with the official BXB ‘Next Big Thing’ stamp.

Remind yourself of previous singles LiesThe Mother We Share and the mighty Recover.

And their remix of MS MR’s Hurricane:

BANDS: The Mispers – You Hold

Having only played 4 shows together as a full band, London-based The Mispers have aroused the Capital with their infectious brand of folk pop. Trembling male vocals soar over soothing strings and pounding drums, reminiscent of a youthful Foals or very early Mumford & Sons. A sure fire band to watch for 2013, check out the track ‘You Hold’ filmed at the beautiful Lightship 95, and try not to fall in love with these new kids on the block.

BEATS: Bondax ‘No Diggity’ (Blackstreet Remix)

The Princes of new-wave house step it up again with a bouncy remix of the Blackstreet classic ‘No Diggity’. Complete with their signature funky beat and a Justin Timberlake sample at the end, what’s not to love? Check it out below.

BANDS: Banks – Fall Over

LA-based hot young thing BANKS has been on our radar ever since she dropped the illustriously off-key Before I Ever Met You a couple of months back. The insanely infectious ‘Fall Over’ was soon to follow, and blew our tiny brains out. Not only is she prancing around in her undies in the official video, but her cell number is also on her Facebook Page. Thank me later boys.

BASS: Azealia Banks – No Problems

Ever wanted to stand onstage and throw a birthday cake into the crowd? Well Azealia is one step ahead of you, as demonstrated in her latest offering ‘No Problems’ from her upcoming debut album Broke With Expensive Taste.

It’s no 212 (currently on over 48 MILLION views), but it’s bassy, filthy and produced by Machinedrum – just the way we like it. And the video using the clipping mask effect – our new favourite photoshop technique!

The vid for No Problems was also directed by 212 director Rony Alwin. We’re not sure what festival this was filmed at (SXSW?) but it looks fucking fun. Riding a rubber dinghy across a crowd – added to the bucket list.

Watch out for the fun Diplo cameo at the end.

Download the track here.

BASS: DAWN RICHARDS – NORTHERN LIGHTS (REMIX FT EVE)

The mighty Eve drops vocals over Dawn Richards’ new track Northern Lights. This is forward thinking, excellently produced R&B – recommended for listening on headphones to get the full effect of the production.

Take a huge drag, crank it up, lie back and get sexy.

BASS: SHOLA AMA – BOYFRIEND

After a stint of collaborations with the likes of Toddla T, Wiley and Diplo, Ms. Ama’s first solo single since 2007 comes in the form of sultry R&B ballad ‘Boyfriend’.

Infectious beats provide the perfect backdrop for Ama’s gorgeous vocal, leaving the track simple, understated and in my eyes; a producer’s wet dream. Along with the sexy black & white artwork (and the fact that I’ve had it on repeat for the past two days) I for one can definitely say that Sho, you didn’t fuck this up.

BANDS: URBAN CONE – URBAN PHOTOGRAPH

I was hanging out at the European XGames in Tignes last week and got friendly with the nice boys in Swedish electro/pop/indie types Urban Cone.

This mega summery track ‘Photograph’ was released back in 2011, but the band are virtually unknown in the UK (and are super keen to come over). The keyboard led hook works perfectly with the band’s relaxed dream pop vocals and the head bobbing beat. And the Swedish people’s accent when they speak English is awesome. I really want to go to Sweden.

So do them a solid – check them out and send them some love!

For fans of Matt and Kim, Niki & The Dove, M83 and The Virgins.

Urban Cone’s album Our Youth is out now on Universal Sweden.
